Chr. von Liu An, einem Prinzen der Han-Dynastie, erfunden worden sei. Während der Nara-Periode der japanischen Zeitrechnung (8. Jahrhundert) wurde Tofu über Korea und ganz Asien verbreitet. In Japan wurde es als „Tofu“ bekannt.
